Location: Lincoln
Description: Shopping Centre
Size: 403,600 sq ft (37,500 sq m)
Strategy: Problematic Situation
Located on the outskirts of Lincoln’s town centre, St Mark’s had been developed seven years before Mountgrange acquired the property in 2002. At the time of purchase, the retail centre was in need of some refurbishment and was suffering from a lack of focused asset management. As a result, the profile of St Mark’s and its retail income did not reflect the centre's potential.
Comprised of 149,600 sq ft of retail warehousing and 254,000 sq ft of retail park and high street retail, Mountgrange saw an opportunity to boost both the profile of the centre, and by implication its rental revenue. This was achieved by upgrading the fabric of the property and by forming relationships with tenants to increase turnover and improve both the centre's ambience and St Mark's brand.
The property was sold to Standard Life in 2003.
